Wilma "Jean" Rusk, 96, of Monon, passed away on May 3, 2025 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville.
Jean was born on July 14, 1928 in Tipton to the late Lucille (Maxwell) Jones. On July 27, 1947 she married Willis "Speed" Rusk at her family home. They were married for nearly 78 years. He survives.
She was a 1946 graduate of Monon High School and went on to work at the Monon Bank as a teller and worked her way up to Assistant Vice President. The bank changed names several times over her 45 year career.She was a member of the Monticello Christian Church and was an active member of Joy Ministry for several years. Jean was an avid bowler and bowled in the Rensselaer Senior Bowling and Early Bird Bowling leagues as well as the Monticello Mixed League. She won second in the state for the Women's Senior League. She was a member of Four Season Square Dancing Club. She loved to read. Most importantly, she cherished her family and always put them first.
In addition to her husband, Speed, she is survived by her daughter, Deb (Jack) McIlrath of Monticello; son, Don (Melanie) Rusk of Rensselaer; five grandchildren and two step grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and sisters, Ruth Stiller and Betty Pelley.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services celebrating Jean's life at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Burial will follow at the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.
Memorial contributions may be given to Happy Tails, Alzheimer's Association, or American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
