William L. 'Bill' Britton

William L. "Bill" Britton, 61, of Monticello, passed away at 3:21 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital.He was born on May 17, 1955 in Lafayette to the late Howard "Howdy" and Ann (Stemple) Britton.He was a 1974 graduate of Twin Lakes High School and was a Self employed contractor. Bill remodeled houses and was especially known for his older home restorations. Bill was very talented with his hands and handcrafted beautiful furniture including hutches, cradles, and rockers. Bill was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. He had participated in the Emmaus walk and had also participated in several Mission trips in the United States and to Mexico where he helped build several churches.He loved his family and especially cherished times spent bonding with them while building the new barn together. He enjoyed going to church and family breakfasts that followed at Esmeraldas. He was a loving father and grandfather who was very proud of his grandchildren.Surviving are his daughters, Brandi Fitz, Tricia (husband, Mike) Spangle, and Tracie Britton all of Monticello; brother, Steve (wife, Karen) Britton of Muskegon, MI; sister, Gail (husband, Steve) Douglas of Shirley; and three grandchildren, Anthony Fitz, II, Bryce Britton, and Hunter Britton.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeremy Britton.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.Funeral services celebrating Bill's life will be at 10:30 am Thursday at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating.Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello United Methodist Church to benefit Soup for the Soul with envelopes available.
