William E. 'Bill' Bucher

William Eugene "Bill" Bucher, 73, of Monticello, passed away at 8:05 pm, Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Monticello Healthcare.He was born on September 7, 1944 in LaPorte to the late Leslie and Florence (Gutwein) Bucher. His marriage was to Maureen Doyle and she survives. They were married in the Milroy Community Bible Church in Monon where Bill's father ministered.He was a graduate of Francesville High School and was a lifelong farmer. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard during Vietnam.He was a devoted husband, father, friend, and farmer. He was proud of his daughter, Bridgit and was eager to attend her sporting events whenever possible.In addition to his wife, Maureen, surviving are his daughter, Bridgit Bucher (husband, Brady Smith) of Lafayette; siblings, Michael (Della) Bucher of Lafayette, Roxann (husband, Tom) Burghardt of Monticello, and Laurel "Lolly" (husband, Bing) Hare of Wichita, KS; and granddaughter, Cara Smith.In keeping with Bill's wishes, services will be private.Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello is entrusted with care.Memorial contributions may be given to a food pantry of the donor's choice.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
