Walter Dewey Dismore, 100, of Monticello, passed away at 1:37 p.m. at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN on February 8, 2026.

He was born in Wolcott, White Co., Indiana to the late George Dewey & Freeda Margaret (Lear) Dismore on July 13, 1925. On July 15, 1950 he married Marjorie E. Kubly at the Monticello Christian Church. They were married almost 70 years before her death in April 2020.

Walter was a WWII veteran, serving on the Liberty boats Philip De Neve & Moses Rogers in the Atlantic Theater. After his military service, he worked several years for Bassett Rotary Tools and T & L Sharpening before retiring. After retiring he enjoyed wood working and traveling out west with Marjorie & spending time with their children & grandchildren.

He leaves behind his two daughters, Karen (David) Sprunger of Lafayette; Jane (Jim) Spencer of Monticello and one son, Rex Dismore of Lafayette. Nine grandchildren; Brandy (Issam) Helewa of Phoenix, Arizona; Dana (Brad) Silvers of Hillsboro, Oregon; Brittany (Justin) Laflen of Lafayette; Michael Sprunger of Carmel, Indiana; Nathan Spencer of Monticello; Travis (Marcy) Spencer of Fishers, Indiana, Tiffanie (Ryan) Terry of Adrian, Michigan, Ryan (Rachel) Dismore of Celina, Ohio and Zachary Dismore of Lafayette. Eleven great grandchildren; Turner & Wesley Silvers of Hillsboro, Oregon, Quinten & Evie Laflen of Lafayette, Henry, Eloise & Lorelei Terry of Adrian, Michigan, Lily Dismore Hallam of Whitestown, Indiana; Raegan & Remi Dismore of, Celina, Ohio; Jack & Eliza Spencer of Fishers, Indiana; two brothers, Butch and Steve Dismore of Iowa; sister-in-law Sharon Kubly and several nieces & nephews.

Walter is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; his parents George & Freeda (Lear) Dismore; two sisters, Thelma Mueller and Vicky Stacy; three brothers, Stanley, Jack and Jerry Dismore and daughter-in-law Susan (Brutans) Dismore.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the White County Special Olympics.
