Virginia L. 'Gini' Cadick Garvin

Virginia L. "Gini" (Cadick) Garvin passed away on May 5, 2020 at Monticello Healthcare where she had been a resident since June, 2015. She passed away from complications of dementia.
She was born on November 28, 1933 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Bernard W. and Mary (McKay) Cadick. Her mother,Mary later married Charles Dodge. Gini graduated in 1951 from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and moved to Monticello to live with her mother and step-father, Mary and Charles Dodge.
Gini married Robert "Bob" Garvin on August 24, 1952 in Monticello. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2004.
Gini was best remembered in recent years as the woman at Dodge Camp on Lake Freeman. After the passing of her mom and step-dad, Mary and Charles Dodge, she ran the business with Bob, her brother Bernie and her sister Jane. Gini had previously worked at RCA in the Personnel Department for numerous years. She also had been employed at Hooks drugstore, White County Machine Shop, Sixbeys grocery, and the telephone company in Monticello as a switchboard operator, under the supervision of her mother-in-law, Agnes Larson.
Gini had been an avid bowler in multiple local leagues, holding elected offices in several, and a member of the WIBC for decades. She loved fishing and she and Bob hosted many fish frys at Dodge Camp. They were also known for their customer appreciation, end of the season, hog roasts. Gini was an avid sports fan, loved Vegas and slot machines and enjoyed cold beer.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Garman of Monticello; her granddaughter, Ali Austin (Rob) Shepherd of Fishers; two great-granddaughters, Delaney McKay Shepherd and Charlotte "Charley" Bea Shepherd; her brother, Bernard "Bernie" Cadick of Indianapolis; sister-in-law Patricia Kneal of Monticello; sister-in-law Jeannie Garvin of Monticello; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob and sister Mary Jane Earls and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
In accordance with current COVID 19 social distancing requirements issued by the state of Indiana,visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 with a service celebrating Ginis life at 1:00 p.m. at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rev. Chris Dodson will officiate services. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
