Velda 'Jeanie' Bilyeu

Velda J. "Jeanie" Bilyeu, 86, of Monticello passed away at 5:15 am, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Lakeview Village in Monticello.She was born May 2, 1930 in Illinois to the late James Henry and Ione (Smith) Borth. Her marriage was to Walter G Bilyeu and he preceded her in death July 24, 1988.She was a graduate of Wrights Beauty College in Logansport and she worked as a beautician until she suffered a head injury during the 1974 tornado. She was a member of the ladies of the Moose, and incidentally, she was at the Moose Lodge during the 1974 tornado and was one of the first two people transported by ambulance to Lafayette for treatment.Surviving are her children, Vicki (husband, Michael) Menard of Gurnee, IL, and Terry Bilyeu (fianc, Donna Scott) of Burlington WI; brother-in-law, Lee Miller of Rensselaer; two granddaughters, Crystal Padgett of Logansport, and Erin Faust of Indianapolis; and two great-grandchildren Kali Bilyeu and Isaiah Padgett.She was also preceded in death by her sister Cathy Miller.No services are planned.Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello is entrusted with care.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com Memorial contributions may be given to Doctors without Borders at www.doctorswithoutborders.org
