Listen to Obituary

Steven Albert Washburn, born in Lafayette, Indiana to James and Helen Washburn on February 8, 1951, passed away on October 6, 2025.

Steven was loyal, honest, hardworking, and deeply loving - a man who cherished his friends and family above all else. A 1969 graduate of Twin Lakes High School, Steven was known for his strong moral compass and unwavering integrity. He could be your fiercest defender if you were in harm’s way, and your toughest critic if you strayed from what was right.

Throughout his life, Steven built a fulfilling career in both real estate and as a Union Millwright. He owned and operated Washburn Real Estate before retiring to Florida, where he enjoyed the sunshine, the beach, and deep sea fishing. Over the years, he called Monticello, New Orleans, and Fort Myers home - each place leaving its mark on his life and memories.

Steven is survived by his brothers Pete Washburn, Mike Washburn, and Brad Washburn; nephews Darrin, Jason, Elliott, and Wyatt; and niece Jesseca. He was greatly loved and will be missed always by those fortunate enough to have known him.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. (EST) at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monticello, Indiana, where friends and family will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
