Stanley E. Banes

Stanley E. "Stan" Banes, 78, of Monticello passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 12:15 p.m. at his residence. He was born August 18, 1928 in Chalmers to the late Harry Edwin Banes and the late Thelma Ruth(Miller)Banes-Girton. He married Rita Souligne on August 30, 1947 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds. They were married just a few weeks short of 60 years. She survives in Monticello. Mr. Banes graduated from Chalmers High School in 1946. He owned Banes Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning from 1954 until his retirement 1997. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello. A member of the Knights of Columbus St. John Neumann Council 6955, Monticello. He played the 5 string Electric Bass with the Four Buddies Band for over 25 years. He loved time spent with his family. He was a former member of the Moose. He was also charter member of the White County Home Builders Associtation. Memorials may be given to Serenity Hospice of Fowler, IN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Survivors include: 2 Sons, Dan (Pam) Banes of Monticello, IN, Richard Banes of Kissimmee, FLDaughter, Diane (Jack) Swafford of Logansport, IN; 4 Brothers, Paul (Betty) Banes of Monticello, IN, Bob (Myria) Banes of Phoenix, AZ, Don (Sophia) Banes of Delphi, IN, George Banes of Frankfort, IN 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, and several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held 4-8PM, Wednesday, July 18 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A rosary service will be conducted at 7PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 10AM with Father Gerald Borawaski and Father James Goodrum officiating.
