Shirley A. Jacobsma, 75, of Monticello, passed away at 10:25 pm, Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Monticello Healthcare. She was born on February 7, 1939 in Lafayette to the late Walter and Ruth (Shigley) Judy. Shirley was a graduate of Monticello High School and a 1958 graduate of the Elkhart University where she received her x-ray technician certification. She worked as a medical transcriptionist for 27 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette from which she retired. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello for more than 63 years. She had also been a member of the Moose and the Amercian Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, making ceramics, bowling, flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed her dogs and their companionship. She is survived by a daughter, Jodi Brinkman of Monticello, and a son, Mike (Mary) Moyer of Cheyenne, WY; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rev. Thomas Albaum of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello will officiate. Private burial will follow. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to The First Presbyterian Church in Monticello with envelopes available at the funeral home.
