Ronald Gene Benson, 80, of Monticello, died at 3:35 pm, Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born May 28, 1932 in Sullivan, IN to the late Elza and Rosanna (Marts) Benson. His marriage was to Georgia Ruth Benson, January 21, 1951 in Indianapolis. She survives in Monticello. Mr. Benson was a graduate of the Arsenal Technical High School. He was member of the United States Army serving in Korea. Mr. Benson was a system analyst for Naval Avionics Facility of Indianapolis. He was a 45 year member of the Masonic Orders. He was a past member of the Brookside Masonic Lodge # 720 F & AM. He was current member of the Libanus Lodge #154 F&AM of Monticello. Mr. Benson was also a lifetime member of the VFW. He also survived by 2 sons, Eric (Kimberly) Benson of Mason, OH, Drew Benson of Atlanta, GA; 3 sisters, Christina Gramaticco of Reno, NA, Shirley (Stanley) Chitwood of Colorado, Sue Turner of Indianapolis; 4 granddaughters, Rebecca Manson, Jacquelyne Benson, Allison Neese, Hannah Neese; 3 grandsons, Dale Manson, Nicholas Benson, Patrik Benson; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Lydia, Addison, Zachary, Chloe. Visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm (EST), Wednesday, January 30, at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 7:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10 am (EST) with Rev. Zachary Rainey officiating. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis at 1pm (EST), with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The American Cancer Society.
