Robert William 'Bill' Musall

Robert William "Bill" Musall, 85, of Monticello, passed away at 7:35 pm, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Monticello Healthcare Center. He was born on August 8, 1929 in White County near Headlee to the late Robert G. and Mildred K. (Kiltner) Musall. On July 17, 1949 he married Erma Smith in Pulaski and she survives. Bill founded Musall's Lawn and Garden Center and Landscaping in April of 1974. The tornado leveled the buildings and the grand opening had to be held in tents. He retired from that business in 2005. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello. He served as military police in the Army during Korea. Bill was also a retired First Sergeant from the Monticello Police Department and a volunteer fireman for the Monticello VFD. He organized the Fraternal Order of Police in Monticello where he served 18 years as secretary. He also designed the patch on the Monticello Police uniform that is still used today. He was a member of the Monticello American Legion Post #81, Gold Wing Road Riders, and Flying Farmers,where he served as past president. He was a Good Fellows. He was a private pilot and his greatest passion and hobby was flying. He loved his wife of 65 years and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Debra (Larry) Runyon of Chesterfield, MO, Wanda (Lynn) Smiley of Monticello; two sons, Robert (Peg) Musall of Monticello, William (Sydney) Musall of Monticello; three sisters, Dixie Geisler of Burnettsville, Doris Piercy of Monticello, Nona Malchow-Orr of Francesville; brother, Ralph Musall of Lake City, FL; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Frederick Musall, sister, Betty Stillwell, and brother, James Musall. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Ryan Bailey of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery . Memorial contributions may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or The First Baptist Church of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
