Robert "Bobby G" Edward Guinnup, 72 of Monticello, IN passed away on Saturday, June 4th at IU Health White Memorial Hospital. Born in Franklin, Indiana on June 24, 1949, he was the son of James Edward and Nell (Finlay) Guinnup. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1967 in Lafayette and attended Purdue University.
Bob married the love of his life, Rebecca Graham on July 3rd, 1983 at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Lafayette, IN. Bob "Buffalo" was a golf professional for 21 years, and spent his entire life dedicated to the sport. Most notably in his golfing career, he won the PGA Indiana State Open in 1979. Bob was a golf pro at Lago Vista Country Club in Texas for seven years. He promoted golf in Antigua for the British government for a short period of time, and helped run the Indiana Golf Academy at Pine View Golf Course for many years. Bob continued to teach golf all throughout his life.
Before retiring, Bob was a sales manager for a local corn seed company for 18 years. Bob enjoyed spending his retirement on the golf course, traveling with his wife, and spending time with family and friends. Bob deeply loved music, was an amazing dancer, and was always a positive presence wherever he went.
Survived by his wife Rebecca (Graham) Guinnup and three children, Lyle Guinnup of Lafayette, Graham Guinnup of Monticello, and Lucy Dold (husband, Zachary) of Monticello, and two grandchildren Violet Penelope and Isabella Daisy Mae Guinnup; two sisters Constance Rubin of Canton, OH and Jamie Atari (husband, Ayman) of Lafayette, IN.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 4:30 pm until the time of services at 7:30 pm celebrating Robert's life at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rev. Kelly Lindsay of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello will officiate services.
Memorial Contributions are encouraged to the Boys and Girls Club of White County with envelopes available at the funeral home.
