Richard R. Snyder, 86, of Monticello, passed away at 2:41 am, Monday, January 9, 2017 at I.U. White Memorial Hospital.He was born on December 16, 1930 in Reynolds to the late Ernest and Mary (Davis) Snyder. On April 18, 1952 he married Birdie R. Biggs in Kentucky. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2002.Richard was a graduate of Reynolds High School. He owned the Main Cafe and worked at RCA for over thirty years. He then had a novelty concession at Hively's for a while and operated Dick's Bike Shop from his home for many years. He attended the Monticello Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion. He was a supporter of the White County Sheriffs Association. Richard enjoyed trichem painting, drawing, fishing, camping and puzzles. He played several instruments including the sax, guitar, organ and keyboard. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.He is survived by three children, Richard E. "Rich" Snyder of Logansport, Cathy Snyder of Americus, and Linda Snyder of Reynolds; brother, William (Nancy) Snyder of Hilliard, OH; sister, Connie (Ed) Bailey of Santee, CA; granddaughter, Chelsa Snyder; two great grandchildren, Bentlee and Kapree; and fiance, Nancy Billue of Monticello.He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Snyder.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church officiating.Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or to ASPCA.
