Richard 'Rick' William Walters

Richard "Rick" W. Walters, 70, of Idaville, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born on June 15, 1951 in Lafayette to the late Paul "Pete" and Adeline A. (Oley) Walters. He married the former Jo Etta Lee and they later divorced and she survives. He then married the former Sandy Stover and she preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Twin Lakes High School and then served in the Navy serving in Vietnam from 1970 to 1974. Rick had worked at Alloy Rods, Talberts in Rensselaer as a welder and then Regal from which he retired. He also had his own mowing business. He was a member of the American Legion and Amvets. He attended Faith Covenant Fellowship Church in Monticello.
Rick cherished time with his family and was especially a passionate supporter of his grandchildrens activities. He had a green thumb and grew the best flower and vegetable gardens. Additionally, he enjoyed fishing, hiking, and anything outdoors. He loved sports and was an avid Purdue, Colt and Cubs fan.
He is survived by his children, Ryan (Derren) Walters of Russiaville, Brent (Sarah) Walters of Punta Gorda, FL, Mallory (Brannon) Newth of Monticello, Jason Walters, Greg Moss of Logansport, Joey Clerget of Yeoman, Jennifer Scott of Monticello; brother, Mike Walters of Idaville; grandchildren, Lincoln, Lucy, Alyiah, Elijah, Christian, Seth, Abbygail, Madison, Kyrstin, Ethan, Macy, Evan, Alyssa, Delilah, Cassandra, Lilly Mae, Griffin, and Gabrielle; great grandchildren, Catherine, and George.
In addition to his parents and wife, Sandy, he was also preceded in death by an infant brother, David Lee Walters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, January 21, 2022 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Darl Clemons of the Faith Covenant Fellowship Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military rites.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Veteran Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
