Ray Stroud, 99, of Burnettsville, passed away at 11:30 pm, Thursday, August 31, 2017 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.He was born on May 4, 1918 in Marengo, IN to the late Emery and Anna (Taylor) Stroud. On November 12, 1939 he married Bernice Nelson at the Christian Church in Monticello. She preceded him in death in January of 2000.He was a Marengo High School graduate and became a Tool & Die Maker. He worked at White County Machine, Logansport Machine and retired from Switch's in 1983. Ray was an outdoors man and enjoyed nature, cutting wood, gardening, fishing, including ice fishing and walking. He liked to go to Bull Shippers on Saturday mornings with his grandson. He especially loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Burnettsville First Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon and Trustee.He is survived by three children, Donald (Judy) Stroud of Lafayette, Judy (Mike) Maddock of Burnettsville, and Kathy (Bob) Hill of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by brothers, Roy and Glenn Stroud, sisters, Grace Clark, Murle Key, and Kathleen Mix.Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Pastor Paul Scott officiating.Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery .Memorial contributions may be given to Burnettsville First Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.Online condolences may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com.
