Rachel Hughes, 79, Monticello formerly of Reynolds died at 8:20 am, Monday, December 31, 2012, at IU White Memorial Hospital. She was born August 26, 1933 in Hueysville, Kentucky to the late Luther and Joan (Tharpe) Davis. On December 16, 1950, in Hueysville, Kentucky she married Curtis Hughes, and he survives. She was a member of The United Baptist Church of Gillam Township located in rural Rennselaer. She enjoyed cooking, but most especially, loved time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Ann (Ronnie) Oliver of Rensselaer, Mary (Lee) Ferdinand of Reynolds, Rose (Mark) Pochon of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; Son, Steve Hughes of Reynolds; 5 grandchildren, Rodney Oliver, Kim Chops, Mathew Pochon, Robbie Hughes, and Dana Hughes; 14 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Orville Hughes; 5 sisters, Laura Smith, Lilly Allen, Martha Hale, Mary Marshall, and Belle Miller; 2 brothers, Kyle and Carter Davis; and a grandson, Scott Ferdinand. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm (EST), Thursday, January 3 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. Friends may also call one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11 am (EST), Friday at the funeral home with her grandson-in-law, Pastor, Jim Chops officiating.
