Phillip Carroll "The Kid" Sanson, 59, of Monticello died at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his sisters residence in Monticello. He was born December 22, 1953 in Lafayette to the late Robert and Novella (Pilotte) Sanson. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He graduated high school and attended Ivy Technical College where he studied auto mechanics. He was an 18 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps having been stationed in various places around the world. He served South Korea along the DMZ. He was committed to Alcoholics Anonymous. He was a mentor because he wanted to give back to a group that changed his life. He loved to fix things and was considered a "Jack of all trades". He was always there to lend a helping hand and he loved to travel. Phillip always had a smile on his face and he liked to joke and tease. He could embellish stories and never told them the same way twice. He was a true family man. He is survived by 2 sons, Phillip Jon (Tabby) Sanson of Tucson, AZ, Ron Sanson of Monticello; 2 step-daughters, Mandy Poore of Lafayette , Angel Duncan of Lafayette; 5 brothers, John (Patti) Sanson of Knoxville, TN, Larry (Emily) Sanson of Monticello, Joe (Jeannie) Sanson of Lafayette, Steve (Younghi) Sanson of Montogomery, AL, Mike Sanson of Monticello, IN; 4 sisters, Annette Douglas, Gloria Overbeck, MaryAnn (Billy) McGlothlin, and Karen Leonard all of Monticello; grandchildren, Bryce Sanson, Phillip M. Sanson, Sophia Rose Martin; 2 step-grandchildren, Mollie and Austin Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10am until time of memorial funeral Mass at 11am, Monday, April 15, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Gerald Borawski officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F Cemetery with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be given to the local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous to be used to purchase books and literature. Envelopes will be available at the church.
