Peggy A. Vultaggio

Peggy Arliene Vultaggio, 66, of Monticello, passed away at 3:26 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2024 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette surrounded by many loved ones.

She was born on November 11, 1957 in Yreka, California to the late Thomas and Malisa (Creech) Applegarth.

On July 2, 1981, she married Joseph Vultaggio in Honolulu, HI, who she met while he was stationed at Hickam AFB. The Air Force moved Joe and Peggy to Gwinn, MI where she worked as a civilian on base in a number of different hospitality roles. In Iron Mountain, MI she discovered a passion for serving the senior community as a food and beverage manager for the local Veterans home. During her years in Michigan, she also earned her associate’s degree at Northern Michigan University. After Joe’s retirement from the Air Force, Peggy and Joe moved their family to Centennial, Colorado where she continued a career in senior living until her retirement in 2019.

In 2020, Peggy moved to Indiana and found her happy place living lakeside with her life partner, David Demmon. In Monticello, Peggy found a loving community through the Monticello United Methodist Church where she was a passionate volunteer for the Soup for the Soul program. She and Dave found true joy planning their next travel adventures, never-ending house projects, and sharing their life with loved ones on the lake. Peggy will be remembered most for being the most generous and gracious hostess, enjoying gourmet cooking, party/event planning, and spoiling all those around her. She cherished her family and loved ones, her fur-baby Lizzo, and every moment spent making her beautiful home on Shafer Lake.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Joe on November 6, 2019. She is survived by her life partner, David Demmon; sons, Jeffrey, Joseph, Daniel, and Anthony Vultaggio; sister, Victoria Ferrin and brother, Thomas Applegarth; grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica, Macayla, Josephene, Dominique, Denton, Hakan, Vivienne, Patrick, Kennedy, and Ryland; and thirteen great grandchildren, Jaiden, Malakai, Rosalie, Gus, Eli, Meredith, Theodore, Kyler, Emirus, Felix, Charolette, Virginia, and Astrid.

Memorial services celebrating Peggy's life will be at 11:00 am Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Beeks officiating.
