Patricia Ann Pitts, 89, of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at IU White Memorial Hospital.
She was born on December 10, 1936 in Anderson to the late John Chester and Sally (Elmore) Hughes. On January 10, 1989 she married Donald Pitts at Montego Bay in Jamaica. He preceded her in death September 20, 2024.
She was a graduate of Anderson High School. She worked at General Motors in Anderson and Oklahoma City from which she retired. Following her retirement, she worked for the News and Review. Patricia was an avid and passionate quilter doing all of her stitching by hand. She enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, the weather channel and super hero movies. She was a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Everyone who met her loved her.
She considered Burnettsville Christian Church her church even though she couldn't attend in person, She watched the live streamed-services.
She is survived by children, Beth Solis (husband, Roger) of Monticello, Regina Rhodes (husband, Doug) of Illinois, Darrell Burton Jr. (wife, Diane) of Anderson; bonus child, Zoe’ Buchan (husband, Bill) of California; brother, John (Mary) Hughes of Chesterfield; ten grandchildren, one bonus grandchild, many great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by son, David Wayne Burton; siblings, Richard Hughes, Barbara Brenner, Ruby Lowe, Doris Moss; grandson, Dustin Rhodes; great grandson, Caleb Weaver.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to an animal shelter of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
