Olga "Granny B" Bowsher, 98, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at her residence.


She was born on October 20, 1924 in Joliet, IL to the late John and Helen (Semplinski) Baloy. She married Francis Bowsher in Joliet, IL on March 5, 1944. He preceded her in death February 9, 2011.


Olga worked as a cook at the Sitka Elementary School where her children attended. She also worked at the original miniature golf course at Indiana Beach and then later as a pharmacy assistant at Rexall Drugs for about 20 years.


She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church where she was very involved throughout the years. In the early years she was a choir member. She was also a member of the Rosary Sodality and St. Elizabeth Circle. She baked many cakes for the bake sale fundraisers when the church was being built.


She is survived by her daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Ripple of Monticello; daughter-in-law, Linda Bowsher of Moulton, AL; grandchildren, Steve (Penni) Rumple of Galion, OH, Greg (Gwen) Rumple of Edison, OH, Lesley (Dave) Evans of Gainsville, TX, Jamie (Evan) Aday of Hillsboro, AL; great-grandchildren, Nick (Chasity) Rumple, Brandon (Erica) Rumple, Megan Rumple, Asher (Alaina) Rumple, Colton (Edder) Rumple, Cooper Evans, Skeet Evans, and Emmett Aday; and siblings, Frank Baloy of Joliet, IL and Florence Ryan of Lockport, IL;


In addition to her parents and husband, Francis, she was also preceded in death by a son, Jim Bowsher; daughter, Kathy Rumple; sons-in-law, Michael Ripple and Charles Rumple; grandson, Michael Rumple; sisters, Helen Krumlinde, Sophie Cook, Catherine Siron, Evelyn O'Brien, and Barbara Clement, and brothers, Lawrence and Michael Baloy.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated a 11 am, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father, Dan Duff the celebrant. The Rosary will be prayed at 9 am, Tuesday with visitation to follow until the time of Mass at 11 am at the church.


Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery.


Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the church.
