Norma M. Miller, 99, of Chalmers, passed away on March 20, 2023 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.


She was born on May 19, 1923 in White County, Indiana on the family farm, the daughter of the late Albert C. and Esther L. (Bardonner) Hintzman. She married Donald Dean Miller at the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds on March 5, 1944. He preceded her in death November 17, 1996.


She was a 1942 graduate of Chalmers High School living all her life in White County around Reynolds and Chalmers. She worked beside her husband on the farm until they moved to their current home located in Chalmers in 1968. She worked at Bryan Manufacturing and later as a nurse’s aide. She also worked at Indiana Beach for several years.


She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and visiting. She loved people. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to travel for 3 months across the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. She was able to travel into Mexico during that same time.


She was a lifelong member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Chalmers.


Her family includes: sister, Velma (Stephen) Freed of Plymouth; children, Donna (Frank, deceased) Foerster of San Antonio, TX, Ronald (Andrea) Miller of Plainfield, and Jeanette (William) Wilson of Chalmers, son-in-law, Elbert Fowler of Mary Alice, KY, Herschel James Cocke (deceased), Richard Miller (deceased), Nancy Slaughter of Brookston, and Victoria Miller of Yankton, SD; daughters-in-law, Connie Ott (Clarence Miller, deceased) of Logansport; grandchildren, Sharon (Dwayne) Bulington, Sherri (Billy) Mize, Helen (Dustin) Myers, Norma Jean (Aarron) Lucy, Amy (Anthony) Slusher, Sidney (Shawna) Fowler-Brown, Jon Foerster (fiancé, Juli), William (Renee) Foerster, Shannon (Aaron) Reid, Jaime Miller, DJ (Courtney) Miller, and James (Emily) Miller; great grandchildren, Carissa, Crystal, Kaden, Anna, Hannah, Logan, Christopher, Naomi, Cameron, Walter (Fawna) Mize, Nathan, Cody, and Charlotte; and great-great grandchildren, Chrispan, Brody, Michael, Wremy, Wayne, Troy, Marshall, Bentley, Savanna, Aubree, Wyatt, and Brydon.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Fred H. Hintzman, Harold R. Hintzman, Clemens Hintzman, Paul Hintzman, Loretta Hicks, Lorna Robey, and Deloris Snowberger.


Visitation will be April 1, 2023 from 11am until the time of services at 1pm celebrating Norma’s life at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rev. Andrew Keller of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds will officiate services.

Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monticello.
