Neil F. Eichhorn

Neil F. Eichhorn, 85, of Francesville, formerly of Monticello passed away at 12:20 am, Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Parkview Haven in Francesville.

He was the son of the late Earl and Bertha (Davis) Eichhorn and was born on June 9, 1937 in Kossouth County, Iowa. They then moved to the family farm south of Elmore, MN, where he grew up. Neil attended and graduated from Elmore High School.

On December 2, 1967 he married the former Sally (Stiers) later known as Buffalo Heart in Joliet, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2017.

Neil served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church. Neil had worked various jobs until he retired. Neil enjoyed bowling, fishing, arrowhead hunting, watching the Indianapolis Colts and Iowa Hawkeyes sports, especially football and basketball. He also enjoyed woodworking and made his own furniture, including tables and bookcases. Neil was a very hard worker and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved ice cream and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

He is survived by his children, Nikki Benson of Monticello and David Eichhorn of Fishers; five sisters, Marjorie Person, Nancy Lloyd, Judy Bresley, Susan Shoup, Sally Huber and two brothers, Mark Eichhorn, Leslie Eichhorn.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beryl Soderberg, and brothers, Lee, John "Jack", and James Eichhorn.
