Morris Hoover, 76, of Monticello, passed away at 10:27 pm, Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his residence. He was born on May 29, 1941 in Lebanon to the late John and Blanche (Trout) Hoover. On February 9, 1964 he married the former June Taylor in Whiting and she survives.Morris was a 1959 graduate of Granville Wells High School in Jamestown and was a veteran of the United States Army. During his high school years, he attended Jamestown Christian Church. Morris worked for Sun Electric Company in Chicago and later in Crystal Lake where he was a sales administrator and assistant vice president. He owned Twin Lakes Auto Electric which was located in the same building where the Amvets is currently located, in fact, he built the building. Morris was involved in the Purple Martin Association, and was very passionate about them. He had several Martin Apartments and loved to bird watch. He was a jack of all trades. Above all, Morris cherished time spent with his family and was the first one to suggest a family gathering or party. He is survived by daughter, Mary Thomas of Chalmers; two sons, David (Theresa) Hoover of Monon and Brian (Maggie) Hoover of Monticello; sister, Kay Yater of Monticello; brother, Lewis (Joanne) Hoover of Jamestown; Grandchildren, Troy, Jenni, Amanda (Josh), Josh, Breanna, Gabriella, Lily, Jacquelynn, Gracianna, and Kimberleigh; and a great-grandson, Greyson.Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services celebrating the life of Morris' life at noon, Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Military rites will commence immediately prior to the funeral service.Memorial contributions may be given to The Ark Christian Ministries to benefit his grandson, Troy Hoover on his mission trip to Japan or to the family to help offset expenses with envelopes available at the funeral home.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
