Michael T. Mannion, 91, of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in the arms of his wife and loving family at I U Health White Memorial Hospital.

He was born on April 17, 1934 in Hammond to the late Leo and Mary (Weber) Mannion. On August 18, 1956 he married the love of his life, Sharon Magurany in Dyer, IN.

Michael was a 1952 graduate of Hammond High School. He went on to work at Exxon Mobil as a gauge control technician from where he retired. Over his career at Exxon, he received several service awards. He owned and operated a coin laundromat and dry cleaning business. He enjoyed boating, fishing and auto racing. He loved planes, trains and automobiles. He was a master at redesigning and remodeling his homes. He enjoyed drawing, especially Disney characters. He had a beautiful voice and sang at many weddings, funerals, and in the choir.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Serra Club. Michael was known for his big personality and sense of humor. He had the nickname "The Mayor" because he could walk into a room of strangers and be a friend to everyone when he left. Above all, he cherished his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by two children, Timothy Mannion (Pegi Davis) of Schererville and Chrisanne Mannion of Crown Point; grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Mannion, Julie (Chris) Hall; great grandchildren, Emil, Harper, and Leonardo Mannion.
