Marvin Henry 'Hank' Van Weelden

Marvin Henry "Hank" Van Weelden, 89, of Monticello, formerly of Chicago, IL. went to be with his Lord, January 12, 2013. He was born March 15, 1923 in Corsica, South Dakota to the late Gysbert and Nellige (Bok) Van Weelden. His marriage was to Jean C. Leep on May 29, 1952 Highland, IN. She preceded him in death. He graduated from Corsica High School. As a World War II Veteran, Henry served his country in the U.S. Navy. He started Van Weelden Bros. Disposal in Chicago in 1945, and remained in the waste industry until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed shooting at local gun clubs. He also enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family in Illinois, Arizona, Indiana and South Dakota. His family is grateful for the wonderful years they shared with him. He continued to live out his life staying positive, sharing wisdom, being genuinely thankful for how blessed his life was and truly always HUMBLE. He is reunited by death with his wife of 37 years Jean Leep, his brothers Gil (Jo) Van Weelden, Adrian Van Weelden; a sister Nellie (John) VanderHoek; a brother-in-law Joe Tegethoff. He is survived by his sister, Annie Tegethoff; his children Ed (Cathy) Van Weelden, Tom (Theresa) Van Weelden, Mary (Brian) Drimalla, and Jim (Joyce) Van Weelden; his grandchildren, Jeff (Amy) Van Weelden, Julie (Tony) D'Amico, Jill (Rob) Burris, Jenna Van Weelden, Laura (Josh) Martin, Aric Van Weelden, Nic Van Weelden, Nate Van Weelden, Jean (Matt) Newfield, and James Drimalla; his great grandchildren, Dakota Van Weelden, Cheyenne Van Weelden, and Mathya Van Weelden; sister-in-law, Edna VanWeelden. A service celebrating his life will be held, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Monticello Christian Church, with a visitation from 11am to 1pm and services follwing at 1pm with Rev. Chris Dodson officiating. Burial for family and friends will be held at Hughes cemetery following the funeral services on Saturday. Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
