Marilyn Jean Paschen, 77, of Monticello, passed away at her residence on Friday, October 21, 2022.
She was born on October 8, 1945 in Pinckneyville, IL to the late Charles and Lorraine (Purcell) Monte. On July 23, 1988 she married James E. "Jim" Paschen at the Monticello Christian Church. He survives.
Marilyn was a graduate of Pinckneyville High School and earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Purdue University. She was a Home Economics teacher, now Life Sciences, at Twin Lakes High School for nearly thirty years. She worked at Indiana Beach during summer breaks from teaching.
She was a member of the Monticello Christian Church and Delta Theta Tau.
She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Above all, she cherished time with her family especially her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed being a homemaker and being at home.
In addition to her husband, Jim of Monticello, she is survived by her children, Melanie (Jerry) Culp of Kalamazoo, MI and David Monte (Georgina) Roach of Littleton, CO; step-children, Brad (Cathy) Paschen of West Lafayette, Mark (De Anna) Paschen of Brookston, and Suzann (Nick) Nixon of FL; Brother, Roger (Judy) Monte of Santa Maria, CA; grandchildren, Alexandra Roach, Elizabeth Culp, Mason Roach; step-grandchildren, Claire (Dave) Hastings, Elizabeth Paschen, Allie (Devin) Paschen, Zachary (Kelsey) Spille, Olivia,Alexa and Kailey Nixon; and her niece, Rachel Dion of Santa Margarita, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a step grandson, Cale Paschen.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Additionally, friends may call one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. A Delta Theta Tau service will be at 4pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services celebrating Marilyn's life will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastors, Benji Riddle and Keith Raderstorf officiating.
