Marilyn J. Mathew, 88, of Monticello, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at her residence.
She was born on December 23, 1932 in Muncie to the late Thurman and Violet (Larimer) Hilton. On October 21, 1950 she married Gerald H. "Gerry" Mathew at the St. Joe Catholic Church in Reynolds and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2016.
She was a graduate of Monticello High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.
Marilyn was a member of the Mother's Night Out Home Econ. Club in Reynolds. She enjoyed her aerobic club, bird watching, sewing, square dancing, traveling, crocheting and knitting. She won several 4-H awards for crocheting and knitting. She served as a volunteer at the library and for the White County Literacy Council and she loved her flowers.
Surviving are her children, Trina Mathew of Hobart, OK, Teresa (Ron) Onken of South Jordan, UT, Taina (Tim) Maffett of Lafayette, Scott (Amy) Mathew of Monon, Tanice (Kyle) Gustafson of Lafayette; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gerald H. "Gerry" Mathew, Jr.; a sister, Gwen Whitlow; and brother, Jan Hilton.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 11am until the time of services at 1pm celebrating Marilyn's life Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the White County Literacy Council. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
