Alice "Marie" Sprunger, 99, of Monticello passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 29, 1926 in the family home in White County near Sitka to the late Charles R."Bink" and May (Small) Godlove. On July 14, 2001 she married Don Sprunger at the Monticello Christian Church. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2005.
Marie lived in the Monticello area all of her life. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1944. She was baptized at Oak Grove Christian Church. She later transferred to the Monticello Christian Church,where she served on numerous committees and as Deaconess.
Marie liked playing dominoes, dice games and cards with family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, camping, fishing, bowling and watching and feeding birds.
She donated blood regularly for many years and volunteered to assist shut-in voters.
She is survived by two daughters, Carmen (Dave) Simmons and Carol Brookshire; daughter-in-law, Colleen Carter; five grandchildren, Angie (Ron) Fisher, Sandy Simmons, Jennifer Simmons (Jerry Cunningham), Aaron (Maria "Belle") Carter, Adam (Telma) Carter; seventeen great grandchildren, Cory (Abel), Johnathan (Emily), Carter, Murphy, Skyler, Lauryn, Jordan, Octavius, Taylor (Drew), Tyron, Alysson, Maple, Jerry, Kyle, Marlin (Byron), Eduardo, Byron; five great great grandchildren, Mylah, Waylon, Oliver, Liam, Dulce "Leilani"; many loving nephews, nieces and friends.
In addition to her husband, Don, she was also preceded in death by a son, Charles "Buz" Carter; a grandson, David Brett Simmons; a granddaughter, Dulce Maria Gonzalez Carranza; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin (Virginia), Robert (Clara), and Perry (Louise) Godlove.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the noon service celebrating Marie's life on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at the Monticello Christian Church.
Burial will follow in the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Christian Church, (General Fund). Envelopes will be available at the church.
