Margie J. Meents

Margie J. Meents, 84, of Monticello, passed away at 8:20 am, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at White Oak Health Campus.She was born on June 29, 1933 in White County to the late James and Louise (Wocknitz) DeMoss. On July 26, 1952 she married Gerald "Red" Meents, Jr. at the Methodist Church in Reynolds. He preceded her in death December 29, 1997.She was a graduate of Monticello High School and worked as a lifetime seamstress. Margie was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and was involved with the Methodist Women, Lunch Bunch, Circle of Faith, and was a Communion Steward. She was a member of the Merry Mixers Home Ec Club. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed sewing and walking. She cherished her family and was a proud grandmother and supporter of her grandchildren and their events. She is survived by son, Greg (Jennifer) Meents of Monticello; granddaughter, Megan (Gavin) Railing of Indianapolis; grandson, Garrett (Kendra) Meents of Chalmers; and great grandson, Grant.She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Meents; and brother, Frederick DeMoss.Visitation will be Monday, Sept 4, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello and also one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.Funeral services celebrating Margie's life will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at the Monticello United Methodist United Church with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating.Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to Soup for the Soul ministry at the Monticello United Methodist Church.
