Lynda Jane Brower 69, of Lafayette, passed away Sunday August 5th, 2018 at 8:37AM, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born in Peru on September 24, 1948 to Harold and Wilma (Hiers) Hilgeman. She married her husband Jed in Peru on March 3, 1972.
Lynda was a 1966 graduate of North Miami High School, in Denver, IN and a 1969 graduate from the Lutheran School of Nursing in Fort Wayne. She worked as an RN her entire career, spanning Dukes Memorial, Peru, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, and White County Memorial in Monticello. She also cared for numerous patients while working in hospice before retiring in 2000. She and her husband Jed wintered in Lakeland Florida for a number of years after retirement and she enjoyed participating in the local Red Hats Society within her community. She was an avid antique doll collector. Lynda loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Jed; stepson Jed Brower of Peru, and daughter Julie (Shawn) Shepherd of Monticello; grandchildren Shaylen, Ellesyn, Hadley, and Hayden Shepherd all of Monticello; sisters, Margaret Harding of Kokomo, Ruthanne Abbott of Peru, and Marceil Barragan of Peru, and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the IU Health Arnett Hospital staff for their excellent care.
Private visitation for the family will be Wednesday afternoon August 8, 2017 at Spring Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
