Lowell 'Pete' Johnson

Lowell "Pete" Johnson, 86, of Brookston passed away peacefully at 3:00 am at Creasy Springs Health Campus in Lafayette. He was born on June 17, 1931 to the late Ted and Beryl (Chapman) Johnson. He married Shirley "Peg" (Disinger) on August 25, 1951 in Medaryville and she preceded him in death in October of 1991. Pete served in the Korean War and returned to work at Overmyer Farms in Francesville for 56 years. He was a member of Francesville First Baptist Church and Chalmers American Legion.His hobbies included fishing, hunting, farming, visiting with other farmers at the elevator, and spending quality time with his family. He never missed any of his grandchildren's sporting events.Surviving are five children; Beverly Cook of South Bend, James (wife,Tara) Johnson of Chalmers, Angela Kepner (fianc, Steve) of West Lafayette, Sherry Bennett (husband, Terry) of Fillmore, and Patty Vanfossan (husband, Jim) of West Lafayette; eleven grandkids; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John Johnson (wife Leona) of Chalmers and one sister, Norma Bailey (husband Jed) of Buffalo.He was also preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, one granddaughter, and two sons. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello from 11:00 am until the time of services celebrating "Pete's" life at 1:00 pm commencing with military rites. Pastor Mike Vauters will officate services. Burial will follow in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.Memorial contributions my be given to American Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
