Linda Lou Carter, 55, of Monticello, passed away at 6:03 am, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 11, 1959 in Monticello to the late Virgil and Rosemary (Farmer) Meyer. She married John William Carter Sr. on October 12, 1990, and he survives. She was a graduate of North White High School and was a bus driver for Twin Lakes School Corporation. Linda Lou was a member of Lake Shafer Christian Center where she taught Sunday School and drove the church bus on Wednesdays and Sundays. She loved bowling, gardening, canning, cooking and photography. She also liked knitting, flower gardening and time spent mowing. Her family was her core value and she cherished them deeply. Her door was always open to all of them. Also surviving are her children, John W Carter Jr. of Fort Wayne, Mistie (Bill) Strickland of Tallahassee, FL, Wendi (Mike) Heron of Fortville, Kristin (Omar) Sosa of Lafayette, Kyle (Angela) Spence of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sisters, Karen (David) Ward of Monticello, Denise Brown-Vincz (husband, Mike Vincz) of Danville, IN; brother, Jeffrey (Karen) Meyer of Ann Arbor, MI; and her grandchildren, Cole, Justus, Michael David, Isabelle, Matthew, Savannah, Jaxon, Kian, and Ava. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert Virgil, and Chuck Meyer; and a granddaughter, Sierra. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, May 23, 2014 at Lake Shafer Christian Center located at 1765 N. West Shafer Drive Monticello, IN 47960. Visitation will also be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Lake Shafer Christian Center with Pastor Nate Pyle officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello Memorial contributions may be given to the Lake Shafer Christian Center. Envelopes will be available at the Church. Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello is entrusted with care. Online condolences may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
