Lilly C. Longere, 87, of Monticello passed away at 4:40 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Monticello Healthcare.She was born on March 31, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late William and Ruth (Blair) Gibbons. On January 25, 1964 in Indianapolis, she married Donald E. Longere and he preceded her in death March 30, 2001.She was a member of the Monticello Christian Church.She worked as a cashier at Sixbeys, Wallman, and later at R&M all of Monticello.She was an excellent cook and was known for her ham and beans. She enjoyed traveling, cruises, and living on the lake with her late husband, Don. During their retirement years, she and Don had many ambitious plans until Don had his stroke. She remained devoted to Don as his health declined.She was a loving mother and grandmother.She is survived by her children and Dons children, Michael Joe Holecraft of Darlington, Pamela Titzler of Evansville, Thomas Holcraft of Texas, Donnae Dole of Indianapolis, Michael Lee Longere of Indianapolis, Carol McQuarey of Kentucky, and Stephen Lewis Longere of Lafayette; sisters, Mariam and Wanda; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by a brother Blair; sister, Juanita; and a daughter Ruth Ann.Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 21 from 10:30 am until the time of services at 12:30 pm celebrating Lillys life at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rev. Chris Dodson of the Monticello Christian Church will officiate services.Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis with committal services beginning at 3:30 pm.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to be given to the Alzheimers Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.Messages of condolence maybe extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
