Kenneth J. Pilotte, 89, of Monticello, formerly of Wolcott, died at 4:31 pm, Monday, November 5, 2012 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello. He was born November 23, 1922 on the family farm in Remington, Jasper County to the late Horace and Cecelia Marie (Charais). His marriage was to Rose Helen Scherer on June 7, 1945 in Fowler and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2008. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 81 both of Monticello. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard from 1943 " 1945 serving in WWII. Kenny was a career farmer and farmed in Chalmers, Rensselaer, Earl Park, and Wolcott. He enjoyed taking fishing trips with his wife, Rose to Wisconsin and Minnesota as well as local fishing. He was a very social person and enjoyed his time visiting with family and friends. He lived a wonderful and socially active life at Lake View Commons. He is survived by 2 sons, Thomas (Cynthia) Pilotte of Monticello, Duane (Roberta) Pilotte of Wolcott; 3 grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Pilotte of Wolcott, Nick (Niki) Pilotte of St. Charles, IL, and Miranda (Jason) Farmer of Maumelle, AR; and 4 great- grandchildren, Anna, Blake, and Cole Pilotte of Wolcott and Viola Rose Pilotte of St. Charles, IL. He was also preceded in death by 5 brothers, Cyril, Verlie, Edwin, Arnold, and Leon Pilotte; and 5 sisters, Marie Plant, Cecelia Coty, Yvonne Goodman, Evelyn Windler, and Annette Hess. Visitation will be from 9 am until 9:45 am, Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. Rosary will begin at 9:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Gerald Borawski celebrating. Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network at www.foodallergy.org or to Serenity Hospice of Lafayette.
