Karen S. (Meyer) Ward, 68, of Monticello, passed away at 2:05 am, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Monticello Healthcare.She was born on March 29, 1948 at the family home in Reynolds to the late Virgil and Rosemary (Farmer) Meyer. On June 4, 2011 she married David Allen Ward at Lake Shafer Christian Center and he preceded her in death on September 23, 2014. Karen was a graduate of North White High School and attended beauty school in Fort Wayne. She worked as a hairdresser for 30 years. After her retirement, she went back to work as a cook. She cooked at Beno's by the Bay, Peppercorns and Cinnamon Sticks, and later the Whistle Stop in Monon. She loved cooking and collecting anything kitchen related, a hoarder of sorts. Her family was the center of her life.She was an avid fan and supporter of the University of Michigan Men's Basketball Team. Surviving are her children, Heather Cowger (companion, Rob Davis) of Monticello, Heath Loren Cowger of FL, Heath (wife,Natalya) Ward of Springdale, AR, and Daniel Ward of Springdale, AR; sister, Denise Brown-Vincz (husband, Mike Vincz) of Danville; brother, Jeffrey (wife, Karen) Meyer of Ann Arbor, MI; grandchildren, Carmyn Cowger (companion, Dalton Bachman), Miles Davis, Austin, Allison, Camellia, and Noah Ward; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn.Also preceding her in death were brothers, Robert and Chuck Meyer; and sister, Linda Lou Carter.Memorial services celebrating Karen's life will be at 3pm, Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Lake Shafer Christian Center with Pastor Nate Pyle officiating.Memorial contributions may be given to Lake Shafer Christian Center with envelopes available at the church.Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello is entrusted with care.Messages of condolence may be extended at www.springerfuneralhome.com
