Karen Elaine Strasser, 59, of Monticello, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at her residence in Monticello.
She was born on July 6, 1965 in Monticello to the late Robert and Novella (Pilotte) Sanson. On June 24, 2017, she married Gregory Wayne Strasser in their backyard. He survives.
She was a 1983 graduate of Twin Lakes High School and received an associate's degree in Chemical Technology from Ivy Tech. She had worked at Landis Plastics for 19 years and then Regal Rexnord as a Quality Assurance Technician for nearly 20 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.
Karen enjoyed being outside, flower gardening, crafting, doing DIY projects, and swimming and spending time with family and friends. She was a good cook and baker. She enjoyed her fur babies, Max and Mindy, her cats. She was dedicated to her career and was never idle in her free time.
In addition to her husband, Greg, she is survived by seven siblings, John (Patti) Sanson, Kenny "Joe" (Jeannie) Sanson, Steve (Younghi) Sanson, Mike Sanson (partner, Judy Gibbs), Annette Douglas (partner, Jim Eddy), Gloria Sanson-Swaim, Mary Ann (Dan) Sigman; sister-in-law, Emily Sanson; two children, Christopher (Danielle) Murray of Lafayette, Kasha (Kevin) Kearney of Monticello; two step-children, Amy (Nick) Napier of Columbus, Adrian (Baltazar) Bartlome of Logansport; grandchildren, Dylan Layne Murray, Sylas Owen Murray, Magdalynn Rose Kearney, Leonard Rory James Kearney, Louie Kearney, Eleanore Kearney; step-grandchildren, Karrington Burt, Gunner Napier, Sawyer Napier, Eric Strasser, Sebastian Bartolome, Martin Bartolome; and extended family members, Tommy and Nancy Davidson.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by siblings, Larry and Phillip Sanson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. The Rosary will be prayed at 3:45 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Fr. Dan Duff celebrating.
Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Happy Tails or to a shelter of the donor's choice OR you may purchase and place a copy of the book "Eat to Beat Disease" by Dr. William LI in a health care office of your choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
