Josephine Ann Thomson, of Monon, Indiana, was taken home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
She was born on March 24, 1931, at Roseland Community Hospital in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph and Marta (Norell) Stoube. She married the Rev. George J. Thomson on January 8, 1966, in Palos Hills, Illinois. He preceded her in death July 8, 1995.
She went to school in Pullman, Chicago, and graduated from Pullman Technical High School. She was an executive secretary for many years, and retired from Monon Corporation.
Josie lived a long life of service to the Lord. She and her sister Fran spent decades ministering at Monticello Healthcare and Tioga Pines. The sisters and their husbands also spent many years ministering at the Pacific Garden Mission and other rescue missions in Chicago. She also enjoyed serving as a Girl Scout Leader for over 20 years. She was a long-time member of the Monon First Baptist Church.
She is survived by George's children, Tom (Jeanne), Maralee (Arthur), daughter-in-law, Elaine; twelve grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 25 great great grandchildren; her niece, Debbie (John) Steen, Altoona, Iowa; nephews, Mark (Deanna) Stoube, Davenport, Iowa, Paul Stoube, Andrews, S.C.; seven grandnephews; a great-niece; many great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. Joseph Stoube; sister Frances Van Scoyk; and George's children, Tim (Maguay) and Jim Thomson.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Monon First Baptist Church with Rev Jeff Scheffee officiating. The church is located at 408 Arch Street, Monon.
She will be laid to rest beside her late husband, George, and her sister Frances in Buffalo Cemetery following services at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested and encouraged to the Monon First Baptist Church with envelopes available at the church.
