John Franklin Walker

John Franklin Walker, 77, of Monticello, passed away at 8:43pm, Sunday, January 8, 2023 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello.

He was born on September 28, 1945 in Chicago to the late Ray and Lorene (Goodwin) Walker.

On June 4, 1966 he married Mary Schneider in Burbank, Illinois. She survives in Monticello.

John was a graduate of Lindblom High School in Chicago, IL. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. John was a member of the Monticello American Legion. He enjoyed playing pool, photography and relaxing by the lake. John worked as a machinist until his retirement.

He is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Gary) McKinney of Mooresville, IN; a son, Shawn (Amy) Walker of Lafayette; two sisters, Josephine Black of Burbank, IL and Barbara Jalloway of Chicago, IL; and three grandchildren, Austin McKinney, Zachary McKinney and Wyatt Walker.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dudley Walker.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family.
