John H. Crowel, 89, of Monticello and formerly of Delphi, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at White Oak Health Campus in Monticello.
He was born on July 5, 1936 in Logansport to the late Gerald and Letha (Lods) Crowel. On February 24, 1957 he married Marilyn Cauble at the Christian Church in Monticello. They were married for 69 years. She survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of Roosevelt High School and served in the National Guard. He was a life long farmer and enjoyed his horses. He was president of the Yeoman Telephone Company for many years and drove the Yeoman school bus. He loved his family and he was loved as well.
John was a member of Hickory Grove Church where he had been a Deacon, taught Sunday School and served in various other capacities.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by two sons, Ted (Becky) Crowel of Monticello, Tim Crowel of Delphi; daughter, Julie (Brent) O'Farrell of Delphi; grandchildren, Molly (Justin) Milcarek, Hannah (Grant) Losiewicz, Jessie O'Farrell, Peter (Eve) Crowel, Morgan (Jordan) Lorenzo, Madelyn (Noah) Abbott; great grandchildren, Ren and Luke Milcarek, Dane, Ellis, Calvin and Scarlett Losiewicz, Andrew, Elijah and Ivy Crowel.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Cowdin.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Hickory Grove Church with Pastor Adam Morris officiating..
Burial will follow in Yeoman Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hickory Grove Church OR Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Envelopes will be available at the church.
