John L. Byroad
John L. Byroad, 81, of Monon, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Acension St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel.
He was born on June 13, 1942, in Monon to the late John "Russell" and Helen (Ratliff) Byroad. On February 11, 1962, he married Jessie Zarse at the Reynolds Christian Church and she survives.
John was a 1960 graduate of Wolcott High School. He served in the National Guard. John was a heavy equipment operator for Overmeyer Farms and also for Dick Kelly. He was an owner operator truck driver for over 40 years, from which he retired. He liked camping and going to hit-n-miss engines and antique power shows. John was a collector of antique gas engines. He never knew a stranger and cherished time spent with his family.
Along with his wife, Jessie, he is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Miller of Remington, Nancy (Russ) Redmon of Monon and Jonella (Mike) Beale of Delphi; one son, Shawn Byroad of Monon; one brother, Ronald (Marlene) Byroad of Wolcott; 13 grandchildren, Joe (Jen) Suhr, Brock (Janel) Suhr, Miles (Bree) Redmon, Johnathon Redmon, Ashley (Matthew) Wallace, Jimbob (Arielle) Miller, Jennifier Miller, Joshua Miller, Jonah (Dakota) Miller, Jake (Ski) Miller, Jilliann Miller, Brooke Beale and John Michael Beale; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Larry Byroad.
A private family service is being coordinated.
