John Addison Sheek, Ii

John Addison Sheek, II 73, of Monticello passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 12:35 am at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 4, 1947 in Chalmers, the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Christianson) Sheek. On November 3, 1973 he married the former Ruth Ann Thomas at the First Baptist Church in Monon and she preceded him in death on January 8, 2014.

John was a graduate of Battle Ground High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a postal clerk in Lafayette, from which he retired.

He was a member of the NRA and a former member of the VFW.

He enjoyed building 25mm models, collecting dragon figurines, and reading science fiction books, especially War Hammer 40,000 series. He also enjoyed his orange mango hot rod, his 2017 Dodge Challenger R/T Scatpack and his 2017 Dodge Ram. Above all, he cherished his family and his pug, GeGe, his faithful companion.

Surviving are his children, Steven Sheek of Monticello, Kati (Buddy) Wicker of Monticello and Cassie (Shane) Tate of West Lafayette; grandchildren, Austin Jensen, Dylan (Heather) Wicker, Kallie Hunter, Cadence Hunter, Riddick Sheek, and Grinner Wicker; great- grandchildren, Aster and Addison Wicker; and siblings, Karen Haburjak of Charlotte, NC, Sally Spencer of Greenville, SC, and Warren Spencer of Lafayette.

Visitation will be from 5pm until 8pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.

Funeral services celebrating Johns life will be at 11 am on Friday at the Funeral Home with Harold Rutledge officiating.

Burial will follow in Bedford Cemetery with military rites rendered there.
