Joan G. Mixson, 81, of Monticello passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 9:30 am at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. She was born April 29, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to the late John H. Gaynor and the late Julia (McTiernan) Gaynor. Her marriage was Karl J."Scott" Mixson on January 2, 1950 in Brooklyn, NY. He survives in Monticello. She graduated from Ladycliff Academy and recieved her B.A. degree from Ladycliff College, Highland Falls, NY Mrs. Mixson was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds where she was a lector and Eucharistic Minister. She was a member of the Merri Mixers Home Ec Club. She volunteered with Helping Hands, and the White County Food Pantry. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of a number of bridge clubs. Other survivors include: 3 Sons, Charles M. "Chuck" (Penny) Mixson of Fairmont, MN, Christopher M. (Elizabeth) Mixson of Greenwich, CT, Timothy J. Mixson of Sycamore, IL Sister, Sr. Constance Gaynor, FSP of Bronx, NY 2 Brothers, Hugh (Sue) Gaynor of Wilmette, IL, Mark (AnnMarie) Gaynor of Mattituck, NY 2 Grandsons, Matthew Mixson of Fairmont, MN, Colin Mixson of Greenwich, CT Granddaughter, Ashley Mixson with the United States Air Force Stationed in England; and several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her Parents; and infant Son: Douglas Andrew Mixson; Visitation will be held 4-8 pm, Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 7:30PM Funeral services will be conducted at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds on Monday, August 27, 2007, 10:30AM Services will be officiated by Father Fintan Cummings, Monsignor Robert Sell, and Father Paul White Memorial contributions may be given to the White County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 323, Monticello, IN 47960; or to the Franciscan Sisters of Peace, 20 Ridge St., Haverstraw, NY 10927 Burial will be in Riverview I.O.O.F.
