Jennifer “Jenny” Lynn Breedlove of Monticello, a devoted mother and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 63.
A selfless spirit and staunch supporter of the underdog and afflicted, Jenny was quick-witted, humble, and kind to everyone she met. She built friendships wherever she went and leaves behind countless dear friends. For many, she lightened their heavy burdens with a joke, listened when hearts needed to be poured out, or simply scooted her chair a little closer so there was a shoulder to cry on and a comforting hug waiting.
She was born on June 8, 1963, in Indianapolis to Donald and Barbara (Jenkins) Johnson. Jenny's mother, Barbara, passed away when Jenny was nine years old. Her father, Don, married Nancy (Raley) Van Fossen in 1973, herself a widow. Through their marriage, Jenny gained not only four siblings but also a second loving mother in Nancy.
A 1982 graduate of Twin Lakes High School, Jenny went on to attend Vincennes University and John Brown University in Arkansas. She spent 30 years working for Dr. Frederic Henney, followed by nearly a decade with Dr. Jeffrey McGuire and Dr. William Misenheimer. Around the community, she was known as the friendly face at the front desk. Behind the scenes, however, her true expertise was insurance billing and office administration, where her dedication, dependability, and unmistakable sense of humor earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
In 1985, she married Timothy Breedlove, and together they had two children, Niall and Amy. Their children became their greatest pride and highest priority. Though they later divorced, Jenny and Tim remained united in their immense love for what mattered most: their children. Through that love, they share an eternal bond.
Jenny was an avid sports fan who cheered just as passionately for the Green Bay Packers and the Purdue Boilermakers, rain or shine, win or lose. She loved animals, especially her dog Peanut, whose companionship brought her constant comfort. She took delight in landscaping and gardening. She enjoyed music and stand-up comedy. And she never turned down an impromptu drive, no matter where the road might lead.
She was an active member of Monticello United Methodist Church since 1980. Jenny faithfully served through Soup for the Soul, the Missions Committee, Women's Bible Study, and as a greeter and golf cart driver for the congregation. That same servant’s heart reached far beyond Monticello. She helped lead disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina, and later served on relief teams responding to the Henryville tornado and flooding in Buffalo, assembling flood buckets and, like always, working tirelessly for those in need. Jenny was never content to sit behind a desk when there was work to be done on the ground. These were only a few examples from a lifetime devoted to serving others wherever she saw a need.
More than the countless ways she served, Jenny will be remembered for her gift for turning strangers into friends and difficult moments into reasons to laugh. She made people feel welcomed, encouraged, and never alone. Whether it was joining a mission team, helping a neighbor, or playing one more game with Owen, her answer was almost always "Yes!" Above all, Jenny cherished her family, especially her role as "Grandmo." Niall and Amy are profoundly proud of their mother, of the life she built and the values she planted in theirs. Those who knew Jenny will remember not only what she did, but how she made them feel.
To know Jenny was to love her.
Jenny is survived by her father, Rev. Don Johnson of Whitmore Lake, Michigan; her children, Niall Breedlove (companion Lauren Posas) of Monticello and Amy Breedlove (fiancé Cameron Neubert) of Toledo, Ohio; her precious grandchildren, Owen, Ava, and Ella; her siblings, Cindy Burt of Westfield, Indiana, Brad (Lou Ann) Van Fossen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Bill (Karen) Johnson of Syracuse, Indiana, Sally (Russ) Kowalisyn of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Betsy (Rodney) Howell of Pinckney, Michigan, and Sheri Allen of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her mothers, Barbara (Jenkins) Johnson and Nancy (Raley) Johnson, and her brother-in-law, Kevin Burt.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 17, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Monticello United Methodist Church, and again for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Funeral services celebrating Jenny's life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Justin Cason and Pastor Brian Beeks officiating.
In honor of Jenny's love of sports, everyone is encouraged to wear apparel representing their favorite team to both the visitation and funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church Missions Fund, with envelopes available on-site.
Friends and family are encouraged to share a photo, a memory, or a message of condolence at www.springervoorhisdraper.com.
