Jeffrey "Lurch" A. Shields

Jeffrey Allen "Lurch" Shields, 62, of Delphi, passed away at 1:10 pm, Friday, February 23, 2024 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.

He was born on March 20, 1961 in Monticello to the late John N. "Jack" and Faye (Westerhouse) Shields.

On October 30, 1993 he married Susan "Susie" Morris. She survives in Delphi.

Lurch was a 1979 graduate of Twin Lakes High School. Lurch had worked for Monon Trail, Peters Revington, Jack Isom Construction, Midnorth Mechanical (formerly Harvey Sons), and retired from Mid States Contracting.

Lurch grew up attending Sitka Baptist Church, and was baptized at Buffalo Christian Church.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA, Laborers' International Union of North America and past member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #75 in Delphi.  Lurch was an avid antiquer "junker". He enjoyed gardening and feeding hummingbirds. Lurch was an all around crafty dude. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.  

Along with his wife Susie, he is survived by a son, John (Fiancée, Heidi Justice) Shields of Delphi; two daughters, Jessica (Mark) Corso of Monticello and Greer (Marcus) Andrade of Aviano, Italy; two sisters, Kalene Bunnell of Monticello and Kim (Darrel) Wiley of Delphi; Grandson, John "Jack" Henry Shields; granddaughters, Makynlee and Natalee Corso, Kylie Andrade and Marley Everett; and numerous nieces and nephews and "army" of friends.

Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by a favorite son, Spike; brother, Johnny Shields and brother-in-law, Mike Bunnell.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 2:00pm until time of services celebrating Jeffery's life at 7:00pm at  Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with Mike Swank officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the White County 4-H to benefit shooting sports or to stopcancerfund.org.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
