Jeffery Darrin Elliott

Jeffery D. Elliott, 52, of Monticello, passed away at 1:23 pm, Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his residence. He was born on September 27, 1962 in Munich, Germany to James "Jim" Elliott Sr. and the late Judy K. (Williams) Elliott. He was a 1981 graduate of Twin Lakes High School and he attended Purdue University. He was one the first male cheerleaders at Twin Lakes High School which he thoroughly enjoyed and was voted class clown his senior year. He was a veteran of the United States Army obtaining the rank of E-4 following which he went to Officer Candidate School (OCS) where he achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. After returning to Monticello, he obtained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant through the local armory, finally achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant at the conclusion of his military career. He worked as bartender at several local establishments over the years and currently tended bar at the Sportsman. He enjoyed guns and was a member of the NRA. His family remembers Jeff as one of the greatest story tellers of all times. He was a member of Sitka Baptist Church. He loved God and cherished his daughter, Shea. In addition to his father, James "Jim" Elliott, Sr. and stepmother, Judith C. Elliott both of Monticello; Jeff is survived by his daughter, Shea Elliott of Winamac; brother, Dr. James R.F. (Rebecca) Elliott of Sitka; sister, Jacki Elliott Combs of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home with his brother, Dr. James R.F. Elliott of Sitka Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be given to the family with envelopes available at the funeral home.
