Janet J. Larimer

Janet J. Larimer, 77, of Monticello, passed away at 12:13 pm, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her residence. She was born August 18, 1937 in Chicago to the late Clovis and Mary (Jones) Swafford. Her marriage was to Buhl Larimer on November 4, 1966 in Monticello, and he preceded her in death on April 17, 2000. Janet graduated as valedictorian from Whitestown High School and later received her bachelors degree. She worked as a service engineer for NIPSCO from which she retired. She attended Monticello First Baptist Church. Mrs. Larimer loved being outdoors, gardening, had a passion for mushroom hunting, and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed traveling to the ocean and mountains as long as she didn't have to drive. Above all, she cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and most especially, her great grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Patricia Barnes of Monticello, Dean Quick of Lebanon, Doug Quick of Monticello, Mick Larimer of Caseville, MI; step children, Nadine (Ron) Krieger of Oxford, PA, Steve (Martha) Larimer of Billings, MT; brothers, James Robert Swafford of Monticello, Ronald Swafford of Lagotee, IL; sister, Margorie (Carl) Douglas of Texas; 8 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Quick; stepson, Dave Larimer; sister, Kay Parke; and brother, Bill Swafford. Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello, with Rev. Ryan Bailey of the Monticello First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart and Lung Associations with envelopes available at the funeral home.
