James R. Krintz

James Robert Jim Krintz, 71, of Monticello died unexpectedly Monday, December 10, 2012 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 12, 1941 to the late Elmer Wayne and Iola Alberta (Westfall) Krintz. He married Trudy E. Dunker at St James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and she survives. He was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and also attended Zion Bethel Church in Monticello. He was a 1959 graduate of Reynolds High School. He worked for 31 years as the Farm Tire Manager at McCords Tires. After working at Goodyear, he worked for Crop/Mate Fertilizer. He spent 36 years raising produce at his Norway home and was the owner and operator of Krintz Boyz Toyz for several years. He retired in 2010 from Twin Lakes School Corporation where he worked for 17 years as a school bus driver. He was the launch pad for Krintz Lawncare and Landscaping which was founded by his son. He was member of Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed gardening and was a collector of toy tractors. In his younger years, he enjoyed hanging out with his buddies at the pool hall. Above all his greatest enjoyment was being a husband, father, and grandfather. He is also survived by a daughter, Joetta (Derrick) Houghton of Austin, Texas; 2 sons, Wes (Rachael) Krintz of Reynolds, and James Jimmy (Michelle) Krintz of Brookston; 2 brothers, William (Bill (Sharon) Krintz of Reynolds and Joe (Kathy) Krintz of Brookston; and 1 sister Roberta Bobbie (Richard) Johnson of Peru; 6 grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Andrew, and Kylie Krintz, and McKenzie and Kamryn Houghton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerome Jerry Krintz. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm, Saturday, December 15 at Zion Bethel Church in Monticello. Visitation will also be held from 12pm until 1pm, Sunday, December 16 at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds. Funeral Services will follow at 1pm with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Reynolds. Memorials may be given to the White County Community Foundation and will be used to establish a 4-H scholarship in Jims name.
