James "J.J." Joseph Johnson, 61, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at I U Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born on November 19, 1964 in Winamac to the late Lowell and Shirley (Disinger) Johnson.
He attended West Central High School and grew up in the First Baptist Church in Francesville. During the last several years of his career, he worked as a truck driver for Hanenkratt Grain Co. His truck driver nickname and C.B. handle was Skippy. He liked to watch NASCAR and football, especially the Colts and Bears. He loved Purdue football and basketball and fishing.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Lafayette where he cooked and helped raise money for benefits.
He is survived by his siblings, Beverly Cook of South Bend, Angela (Steve) Jenkinson of Lafayette, Sherry (Terry) Bennett of Frankfort, Patricia (James) Van Fossan of West Lafayette; nieces and nephews, Spencer Van Fossan, Jorie Provo, Mavrick Provo, Jalen West, Darnett Bennett, Aubrey Bennett, Michael Boehning, Russell Cook both in South Bend and Michelle Holliday of Mulberry Indiana; and several great nieces and nephews.
