James Glenson Wright, 67, of Monticello, passed away Oct. 7, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi, at 5:04 a.m., after a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Jim was born on Dec. 1, 1955, to Wilbur and Leona (McCall) Wright in Logansport, IN. He was a 1974 graduate of Twin Lakes High School and Lincoln Technical Institute. He was a certified diesel mechanic and millwright. He retired from Tate and Lyle.
On Dec. 14, 1974, Jim married Alicia Quackenbush at Monticello Christian Church. They enjoyed camping at Broken Arrow Campground in Winamac, traveling to Hawaii, Florida, and Las Vegas, supporting their children and grandchildren at sporting events and band and chorus concerts, and relaxing by their pool. Jim could fix anything and loved restoring antique tractors, especially International tractors. He was a longtime member of the Idaville First Church of God and Royal Center Lodge #585 F&AM.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, brother, Gale Wright, and mother-in-law, Marge Quackenbush. Surviving him along with his wife and mother are four sons; Trent (Laura), Monticello, Brandon (Darlena), Lafayette, Johnathan (partner, Monica Lucy), Monticello, and Adam (Ashley), Lafayette. His pride and joy were his 10 grandchildren: Andrew, Oliver, Matthew, Keaton, Xavier, Dayn, Kynlee, Payslee, Cooper, and Connor. Jim is also survived by his brother Donald (Jacquie) Wright, Monticello; sister-in-law Susie Wright, Fishers; and father-in-law Jim Quackenbush, Monticello.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 4-8 p.m. (EDT) at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral home and one hour prior services on Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services celebrating Jim's life will be at 10 a.m. (EDT), Wednesday, Oct. 11 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Murphy officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
