James B. Mitchell, 91, of Monon, formerly of Reynolds, passed away at 8:09 pm, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at I.U. White Memorial Hospital in Monticello.He was born on March 5, 1925 in Marked Tree, AR to the late John and Tinte (Woods) Mitchell. On May 3, 1943 he married May Belle T. Yaros in Gary and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2007. On August 11, 2011, he married Linda Seymour at Lake Freeman in Monticello. Linda survives and resides in Monon.He had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Gast Construction in Warsaw, an iron worker for American Bridge, and then worked for Bushman Fertilizer in Reynolds until his retirement in 1988. Jim enjoyed camping, fishing and raced cars.Besides his wife, Linda, he is also survived by three children, Jackie A. (George) Coonrod of Buffalo, Pat C. (Don) Foulks of Monon, Betty Lou (Ted) Westfall of Reynolds; step-sons, Stuart and Steven Seymour of Tuscon, AZ, and Thomas (Rene) Seymour of Delphi; eight grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and two step grandsons.Preceding him in death were two brothers and five sisters. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello.Funeral services celebrating Jim's life will be at 10:00 am Friday at the funeral home with Shawn Cain officiating.Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Reynolds.Memorial contributions may be given to a food pantry of the donor's choice or to White County Council on Aging.
